Review – Bridgers 4: Mind of Many by Stan C Smith

Warning – I’ve been reading this series since book one, so in the interest of my own sanity, I’m just going to review this episode. If you want to read about the others, you can look back at my other reviews on Goodreads, As for this one, there will be some spoilers.42952785 (1)

The earth is on its last legs. Global catastrophe is on the increase, and even the last remaining Safetrek facility is in danger. Infinity is bridging for the last time, The plan is in place to go the earth that deviated 20 years from ours, but a super-tornado forces them to bridge under duress, and they land in an earth nothing like the one they left. In fact, they land in a world that appears to be solely inhabited by arthropods. Can they find what they need to survive? Can they defend themselves against some bizarre predators? And what the heck is that hive mind that seems to be able to communicate?

This is another good addition to the series, maybe my favourite after the first. The tornado at the start is great, and the riots at Safetrek are intense, The world they land in is amazing, with arthropods growing to impressive sizes (read the book before you lambaste me with your science. The cast of characters is limited to about 20, so we get to know people better than just before they popped their clogs, like in the other books. So in a nutshell, the book is exciting, fast (I read it in a couple of days), with a badass heroine who pulls no punches, literally or figuratively.
